    Default Got a free tank

Picked this up at work this week for FREE! 30" diameter x 74" long.

Thoughts on what it should become? I have looked at some plans for reverse flow smokers, what other options are there? I really don't have a need for something this big, my two UDS's are just fine for the capacities I cook 99% of the time.

That being said, I just want to make a sweet smoker out of this tank anyway!

    Thoughts/Ideas appreciated

I see the makings of a great reverse flow build.....

I can think of several things a guy might want to do wit that.

An internal firebox straight flow comes to mind first.

if i said i would like the ability to do a whole hog, would that affect your opinion smokie?

with the internal box, i have read posts where u prefer 1 box in the middle, i am worried that would create a big hot spot in the middle that would be bad for a hog. do you put in a water pan or diffuser?

also, where can i find the proper ratio for my fire box to tank? i know that the are some guidelines there.

sorry for the list of questions, but i warn u that there will be more to come, i am a planner!

should be about a 250 gallon tank, my opinion would be to build a smoker like mine, look at the "smoker started" thread. its the same size tank with a smaller firebox in each end. you would have to do the doors a little different for whole hog. to me this set up uses less wood then a reverse flow because your heat is in the tank and not being drawn into the tank.
