Default Fishin For Q Drum Smoker

I finally got around to starting this project. It is not exactly a conventional drum, but I think it is close enough. It is 26 1/8" dia. It drawfs the 55 gallon drums.

I plan to used the charbroil ash cup and draft controls rather than installing any knife valves. Does anyone see any problems with this?
The only problem that I see with this approach is that the Guru will not have an attachment point if desired. I could add one valve for that option. I thought I would throw this out for everyone to kick around.

    Off to a good start!

    You are amazing Jerry!

I think it should be guru able, but then I might be a tad prejusiced.

I didn't know you had a Bandera. Is it burnt out?

It is not burned out, but it is a cheap knock-off. It needs some mods I just lost interest in it. I never really got any good cooks from it and it used tons of fuel. I been going to insulate it and convert it to vertical reverse flow. Probably be better off buying a BWS.

Off to a good start indeed! I don't see why you couldn't use conventional controls or add a guru with minor modification. I'm excited to see the end result!

It is taper from top to bottom so it will fit inside outside. Top OD is 26 1/4" and bottom is 26 1/8". The tube is 14 guage sheet steel. I rolled a piece of 1/4 by 3/4 bar and welded it around the inside and a piece of 1/8" around the lower end. Those should hold the round and I will pein the lower bowl in and or weld it permenant. The tube is 27" tall. Cooking Grate will be 43" above the ground. That should be enough dimensions that you can build one.

I think I will paint it gloss black.
