    Default Looking to copy

    This is the list of ingredients from the label of my absolute favorite Eastern NC style BBQ sauce.


    -Apple cider vinegar
    -Apple juice
    -Ketchup
    -Hot Pepper sauce
    -Kosher salt
    -Orange Juice
    -Sugar
    -Spices

    I'd be happy to simply buy it, but no store nearby carries it and, on-line, they get $6 a bottle, which is considerably higher than what I can buy it for when I can find it plus theres the shipping on it.

    So, I'm looking to replicate it as best I'm able.
    ANY insights, advice, guess' as to proportions(besides the obvious "most first" rule) of ingredients(spices especially) ect would be appreciated

    There isn't much way i can be of help without tasting it. The toughest part will be that which is referred to as "spices"

    Here is my recipe for E. N.C. BBQ sauce see if it will tickle your taste buds
    1 1/2 cup Apple Cider vinegar
    1/2 cup + 2 tbl Hunts ketchup
    1/2 tsp cayenne
    1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
    1 tbl white table sugar
    2 tsp black pepper
    2 tsp kosher salt
    1/2 cup water

    whisk it all together pour into an old Heinz vinegar bottle with a hole in the lid for easy application the longer it sits the better it gets!!

    Remember that the ingredients are listed by weight. not volume. Can be important if some of the major ingredients are dry.
