Judged the Smokin' On Big Creek BBQ Comp at Pleasant Hill, MO yesterday. 54 teams! It was a well organized and smoothly run comp. First turn in was at noon and judging was completed at 1:45PM.
The best category was chicken, there were two boxes at our table which were excellent, one MIGHT be the best I've ever had! Pork was good, Ribs and brisket were disappointing, some way below average. Lot of over cooked stuff.
All in all, I'm thinking I might want to cook in this one next year. I think I could have scored easily in ribs, and maybe pork.
I did not stay for the awards, will have to check the next Bull Sheet for results.
