    Default WSM wind break

If you have an 18" WSM and ever worry about the wind you really need to make friends with someone who has a spare 50 gallon drum. I was cooking today with the outside temp in the mid 20's. Even with a dry water pan the temp didn't get much above 230. I dropped my open ended drum around the smoker and the temp went up 30-40 degrees. I'm glad someone figured this out. It sure is a lot easier than trying to use some kind of insulation or blankets.

Purty Clever....did it get enough air for combustion after you put the drum around it?

You've got 1-1/2 inches or so all the way around the WSM between it and the drum. Plenty of room for a bit of air.

I am using a ez up with tarps as sides seems to work well and it even keeps me warmer too.
