I know a couple of the guys here have the BellFab smokers too...
It all depends on what you want....Do you want a pull around or a stationary smoker? I know Lang makes a really nice Patio version of their pull arounds.

There are so many great custom builders out there right now. Lang, Klose and of course Oklahoma built Horizons are very popular around here! There's also Greer(sp?), but that is a long list to get on!

I always liked the Diamond Plate Products Fat 50.

My Lang is going to be here this weekend, 48 mobile deluxe. I did a lot of research and made my decision, may regret not going bigger but talked to some folks who helped me decide. The waiting is the hardest part

This is Roger Davidson's company. His brother Joe ( Oklahoma Joe, if you've heard of the smoker or the restaurant, or the other BBQ products) pretty well invented the offset smoker. The Horizon smoker are pretty welll the same thing as the original Okla Joe before New Braunfel bought and then ruined them.

David Klose builds a little higher end and more custom units. they are a little heavier built than the Horizon's, but you will pay for it.

Jamie Geer builds his "Jambo Pits". They are just about the Cadillac of offsets including their insulated fireboxes. You will really pay for what you get, but they seem to give you what you pay for as well.

The Bellfabs seem to have some very basic design flaws, and having spoken with Mr, Bell, he doesn't eem to be interested in correcting them. I personally would not want to buy one of his unless I was able to play a part in designing it.

That's my $.50 worth, keep the change.

I'll go with Jambo Pits, Jamie Geer. Down in Ft. Worth, Texas. The Rolls of BBQ pits, very expensive. Not mass produced, he doesn't build until you tell him what you want. You won't find better paint on custom cars. But if cost is no issue this would be the one.

Used by some of the best competition cookers doing comps today.

Talked with him at the American Royal, nice guy. And he is a well seasoned comp cook also. A lot of that goes into his pit designs.

Not many other true custom builders out there.
Several offer different mass produced models and will add things here and there, but that's not custom.

Two more to consider. Both are top quality pits and can be customized to what ever your dreams are...

I've cooked on a couple of Gator Pits and drooled over a few Lonestar pits... If I were in the market, one of these guys would be getting my money.
