    we have a plot of some moonflowers next to the pool shed and one day I noticed something was eating the leaves like crazy.
    It was them tomato worms like you pictured. we gathered up as many as we could find and saved the moonflowers. I think we got about 38 of them at one time. Haven't seen them since.

    They do seem to travel in packs.

    There is a bacterial agent called bacillus thuringeinsis (known as bt) that is very effective on them and is non toxic to warm blooded animals. One name it is sold under is Thuricide.
