    Default "Cowboy Cooking Rig"

Anyone got one of those "cowboy cooking" setups? Includes a support and hooks to hang pots from, maybe a swingaway grill and tools. If so, where did you get it?
I always thought I would buy one from Johnny Nix (Y'all eat yet?) off his Campfire Cafe show that was on PBS. Local PBS station no longer carries it and he is no longer on the show.

We bought a tripod and swing away grill from Bass Pro. Either BP or Cabela's has a few different set ups to chose from.

Yep, I think I'll have a look at Cabela's. They are more oriented that direction than Bass Pro.
Though the new Bass Pro opening here in a few weeks is going to be huge. No telling what they will have.

I sure hope you're not disappointed like we were when they opened one here.

The new one here is larger than the original down at Springfield, has a fishing lake out front, hotel, more stuff.
Yep, we have one of the mini Bass Pros over in Olathe. Not impressed.

Sorta. The one Johnny Nix was selling had a bar across the top with 5 or 6 different length hooks to hang DO and pots on. The rotisserie might be OK though. And it does have the two swing away arms to hang stuff on.
What do you use? Any pics?

Mike, I don't have a setup like Johnny Nix, but would like to. Been thinking about building something similar. Used to watch Campfire Cafe every chance I got. I need to get serious about building one before June and bring it along. What I use is a rack about 15" tall, 15" wide, and 30"long over an open fire. It is made out of 1/2" rebar. Wil try to remember it when I go to Ks. as we will be smoking at Bill's shop and he is a welder by trade and has all kinds of neat things to play with and shape metal.

I'd like to have those type things. It's just money. I'm leaning toward a new wire welder and plasma cutter. I am. Jane isn't.

Man Up Mike! Tell her the way it is going to be. Demand that she watch you pick it out. Insist that she will be happy with the decision you're making and the stuff you're going to build!

When you finally are able to pick yourself up off the floor... apologize and quietly sneak out the back door when she isn't looking.

If all else fails lie to her and tell her you'll give up boating, fishing, and beer drinking.
