    Default Hi from South Africa

    Hi everybody,

My name is Brendon and i am joining you from Bloemfontein in South Africa. I interests are 4x4ing, camping, cooking or just about anything that i can do outdoors. In SA we refer to our BBQ's as a "Braai" we also often make use of a "Potjie" and a flat Bottom "Potjie" for outdoor cooking.
I joined the group to learn some new fresh ideas for outdoor/campfire cooking and look forward to contributing some ideas too.

    Regards Brendon

A friend of mine is Conrad Haskins from SA, now living in the Pacific NW. The two of us fed 6000 when the Striker Brigade came back from Iraq. I have done some cooking on a Potjie that Conrad supplied. Be interesting to hear what you are cooking, got to believe it may be a little different from what we normally get to Q.

    Welcome to the forum.

When I was living in Alabama several years ago, I worked with a couple of guys from SA. One of the guys said he would bring over his potjie and do some cooking if I let him use my place to do his thing at my place (he was in an apartment at the time). I didn't ask too many questions and was looking forward to trying something new. The day he came over I was inside putting a couple of snacks together and he said he was going to go out back and get started. When I went out back, he had a nice size fire going.......right in the middle of my lawn. LMAO. He stuffed a couple of chickens in that thing that looked like it would only hold one. Some good food came out of that potjie. He told me that day, something that I guess has some value in life........."never leave a bushman unattended in your back yard"

Sorry to ramble......welcome to the joint.

Look forward to learn more about your "Potjie" and a flat Bottom "Potjie". Always looking for new things to use with my dutch ovens.
