I think I've seen the chunkin contest on TV. If it wasn't theirs, it was somebody's.

We're cookin a comp this weekend in beautiful Jenks, America.

    That's who we are!

As far as the judging goes, the only contest I judged most of the food wasn't worth a poop.

    Ummmmmmm........................ no pics.
But it fer sure DID happen. Read about it in The Bullsheet.
Judging took ALL DAY! Turned out they had Kids Que, beans & dessert classes in addition to the regular four meat classes. Add in NOT ENOUGH judges and it became a long day. Each table was judging 8 boxes instead of the normal 6. Table captains were doing double duty judging. Got there at 10 AM, finished at 3:30.
They were chunkin' punkins the whole time. Had three air cannons, no trebuchets. The sound was awesome. Professional air compressors charging 500 gal. propane tanks, then KA WOOSH! They were blowing 1 1/2' holes through an old step van with pumpkins!
Naturally, after we were freed up everyone was tearing down and getting ready to leave.
It was a good comp though. Had the #1 and #2 teams from the Royal there.
Needless, we did not stay for the awards. Too full and ready to go home!

It got me fired up to build an air cannon. One of the cannons there was built on an old school bus. The upper body was cut off just behind the driver all the way back, leaving the floor (I think it originally was used to haul a race car, the rear behind the wheels was bent down). Had a 500 gal propane tank mounted crossways behind the driver and the "barrel" behind that. It hung out over the rear about 8'.
Sure looked like fun to me and I didn't even get to see them fire.
