    Default New from Arizona

I started grilling back in the late '60's on your basic charcoal grill from the grocery store. I moved up to a Weber kettle in the '70's and then to gas. I currently have a 27 inch Weber kettle purchased in /86, a Lodge Sportsman Grill, a Brinkmann Smoke N Pit Pro (offset) bought in '95, a 42 inch Duane Meridian with rotisserie and dual side burners (made by Twin Eagles Grills for Ducane) bought just as Ducane was going out of business, and a Cookshack Amerique 066.

I cook mostly for family but once in a while friends will come over for a small gathering. I do a lot of research on equipment (not just BBQ) and belong to many forums of all kinds. I have made a lot of mistakes in the last 40 plus years as far as buying equipment that did not live up to the hype or cost far more than it should considering the results. As such, I try to help when someone is asking what to buy; no point in letting someone make the same mistake's I made. Or at the least give them a heads up.

There have been times when I have answered a question or two such as what to buy and it has been viewed as unwanted spam. Never my intention. I will only comment on what I am familiar with, warts and all. And my postings may be few and far between. Also, I am very weak in the picture taking and posting department.

I retired from the army (70 - 95) and am nearing the end of my second career as a constructor inspector. I plan on full sit on my butt retirement in February 2017. I enjoy scroll sawing little nic nacs, astronomy, reading the bible, and old movies. I am married and to the same woman for over 40 years.
