Default Octagon new project looking for input/ideas

This is my new project. I have been cooking on a New Branfels off set smoker for 6 years and going strong. It's a small "normal" smoker but I love it and seasoned the way I like it. I've always wanted something bigger and have been fantasizing online for a while. Someone around town was giving this away for the right price... Free! I kind of have a general idea of what I want to do with it, but definitły looking for ideas and input. I would like to build a reverse flow hybrid pit. Something where I can pull out the plates and use it as a direct heat charcoal grill if needed. It is 72 inches long and 2 ft deep...let's hear the ideas! Open to all options!!

That's a pretty cool looking rig.

I think you're spot on about making it reverse flow. I couldn't tell if it has wheels from the pic. But I would also put it on some kind of wheels or trailer with some sort of storage to keep wood tools and that could double as a work surface. That's me tho I like to have a shelf to set things on or work off of and and a storage area to keep thinks handy. Good luck man enjoy it.

It needs to be mobile for sure. It will need some work to get it to a reverse flow set up, but it will be worth the effort.

Welcome to the forum by the way. Enjoy and please keep us posted on what you decide to do and how you're going to do it.
