Have a friend who is building a Stumps clone, he's using some carbon fiber in it.

Yeah I can't wait to see it make smoke, this is taking alot longer than I planned but the end is near.

Carbon fiber wow that sounds interesting I'd love to see some finished pics of that build.

Finally off the road for a few weeks hopefully I can get it done before I leave again. Here's the progress for the week.



I got all the insulation in it is 2" Roxul rock wool




And i got it all skinned i used ⅛" mild steel and I ground down all the welds and rounded off the corners. I have more pics to post but photo bucket went down before I could finish this post

I just need to make some doors and grates and I'm in business.

Skining is done corners are all ground and rounded.




Frame for the fire box door it is also insulated 2" square tube ⅛" walls same as the frame.




One door complete 2 more to go. This door is for the firebox ¼ plate on the inside 2" Roxul insulation and ⅛" plate on the outside.

The bad thing is I'm down to about 40 Psi of gas on Friday and the local welding shop is closed till Monday so unless I drive all the way into Anchorage it will be a very unproductive weekend.

After a weekend spent prepping and cutting because I was out of gas. Even the cutting had to be cut short after busting a blade on my saw. After a blade replacement and a bottle exchange work went pretty smoothly.



Mounted the hinges and fire box door



Made another frame to push the door away from the main body to let it swing open further and to minimize the paint damage from the heat and smoke released when opening the fire door






Just need to install the seal and mount the slam latch

Main door done ready to mount. It's 2" square tube frame and 2 sheets of ⅛" steel plate sandwiching 2" of roxul

This was a fairly productive week




I got the main door done and ground down smooth, and mounted



I just need to mount the slam latches on both doors.



While cutting a 5"x5" square tube to make the exhaust I burnt up the motor on my band saw. Apparently​ the fan fan shaft heated up enough that the cooling fan melted and slipped off the shaft, making the motor over heat and melting the solenoid and relay on the top.
So I'm back to cutting the old fashioned way at least until I can get this one rebuilt or find a replacement motor.

I still have to make 1 more door and an offset frame , and all the grates
