Thread: It came Friday

    Default It came Friday

When I got home Friday night there was a box at the door. It was an EZ Que kettle ring rotisserie kit. I didn't get around to putting it together until today. You guys would not believe how heavy duty this thing is! It is definitely pro grade stuff. I took a couple pix of it assembled, but you really can't tell much.

Glued2it still has my drum, but he's bringing it over Tuesday and we're going to try a test run on a coupke butts prior to our next competition. Peculiar Mike is coming down for a few dove shoots as well, so I though I'd just wait and get some pix with the unit in action and post them.

I'm going to be working with the EZ que guys on developing the unit specifically for drums, so if anyone has any input, please share it with us.

so far, I've already figured out that we should add studs for a second round grate to be used as a double decker when the rotiss isn't in use. Anybody else got any ideas as far as what it would take to make it perfect?

We're gonna do a double butt smoke Tuesday I think. I went ahead and downloaded a couple pix. Here they are, more to follow after Tuesday:

The ring must be 14 ga., and it's all 304 stainless.

It sure looks like a nice cooker. You reckon you can figure a way to overcook that nasty ol' pig? We'll be watchin' ya!

That looks really well made. Nice find Tim! Did you decide how you were going to cover the thing? Weber lid?

I'll use the Weber lid for now.

Like I say, I'm going to be working with the mfgr to develop a unit specifically for drums, so any and all input from everybody is welcome.

I'd just be willing to bet that you have some ideas Josh.

Can it be turned upside down? That would put the "spit" towards the bottom?

No, the slots for the spit wouldn't line up. What would be the reason for that?

Ah, I see the slots now. Thought maybe if it were a little taller and turned over you could still use the drum lid.

That's a thought, but the lid does need to fit fairly tightly. I don't know if it would be worth the xtra mfg process to make a rolled rim .
