Oh and I saw a reply on the feet in your intro. I use 4 inch carriage bolts welded in place, threads down, then attach your pan to that. Works for me.

Finished up my charcoal basket, maybe placing in the grass wasn't the best photo view, but here it is.

Had a friend help weld the expanded to a 17" grill from Home Depot. Then welded a piece of rebar across the top for a handle.

Completed a burn in over the weekend and seasoned the inside with a healthy dose of bacon grease. (is that an oxymoron?)

Found a handle for my lid as my wife was throwing out an old tea kettle and I repurposed the handle. Free is always a good price! She hasn't noticed yet.

Kept a pretty steady temp and I was able to play around with the valve to take the temps up and down. Had it up to a steady 350 for a while.

Planning on picking up some 2" pipe for a stack on the lid this week.

Perfect! You're ready to get with it. Ya shoulda threw a chub of Jimmy Dean sausage in while seasoning and had a bonus plain fatty. Congrats and great job ... welcome to the Drum Corps!

Smoked the first rack of ribs on my UDS today

Still need to play around to get the hang of it, but they turned out nicely.
