    CD,
It is the Trailer Mod. 48. and it is the new generation. Right off the line.
Supposed to have increased cooking surface/area.
    Thanks

Tell us about the new generation. I went to their website and didn't see anything about it.

    Well Tim,

After speaking with Ben Lang for some length.(Great guy who loves to talk smoking)
He told me reason for the change was that propane tanks are constantly being made of thinner and thinner steel. What ever will hold the pressure basically. He Also had found some Inconsistency in the thicknesses as well.
So he decided to buy a steel rolling machine and is rolling his own metal now. The entire smoker, cooking chamber and fire box is made of new 1/4" steel. Trailers are made with either 3" or 4" channel iron depending on size of the unit. This is to increase the strength, rather than using angle iron.

The units no longer have the rounded tank ends and are flat. He said because he is now hand making everything it has allowed them to increase the door size for the cooking chamber and was also able to increase the grate/cooking surface area.
The Mod. 48 has gone from 36"x22" to 44"x22" on the main cooking grate.

Go to pigroast.com and, you will need flash player installed and wait for the page to completely load. Scroll down just a tad, and right under were it says "THE THIRD GENERATION and MORE TO COME", a slide show of the all new smokers will begin.

    Quarter inch metal!

Does that also mean no more side clamps on the oven door?

It appears by the pictures he is still using the same method of clamping the oven door shut.
