    Default Big Ben's BBQ Station

    Big Ben's BBQ Station
    2817 The Loop,
    Carthage, MO 64836

Tuesday thru Saturday 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM

Today I had the pleasure to experience a new BBQ restaurant to Carthage. The owner was previously selling in Pittsburg KS but, as I was told, moved the business to town to be closer to family.

Todays order was for the Big Ben's Sampler. This is set to serve 2. I was a little skeptical about that as I've been disappointed at so many places before, but I gotta tell ya the portions are RIGHT ON. I brought half of it home.

Sorry for the quality of pictures as I didn't take the regular camera with me to lunch (it wasn't hungry).

Big Ben's Sampler as served today

On the sampler was a generous serving of (your choice lean to moist) brisket, which was very flavorful and tender as brisket should be.

3 ribs, which were a little soft to me but for most general public it would be spot on.

Pulled pork which was actually chopped and sweetened with sauce. A right tastey hunk of porky goodness, but I would love to taste just the pork and option the sauce on the side.

A large bbq meatball. This meatball is almost exactly the same as the recipe I got from Mom years ago and brings back some tastey meal memories to me. Y'all gotta try em

There was also a chicken thigh in there that I didn't get to and honestly it might not get a fair review from me based on my love (lack there of) for chicken. But I'll let the wife try it and get back to ya.

A spicy hot link that was actually a little spicy and full of flavor. remember kids I may not be the person to ask if something is hot, but it has some heat to it.

This all came with 2 sides from a good sized list. I chose to have Baked Beans which were pretty good with some pulled pork thrown in, but I would love to see a touch of back heat added to bring them to the front. Also I had the cheesy potatoes which were flavorful and creamy.

All in all Big Ben's BBQ Station is a breath of fresh air for this town and surrounding areas. Make the trip and give em a try. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

I asked if Ben had time to maybe chat, but alas he was a busy man. With food like this I'm not disappointed though. I would have loved to talked more about his smoker of choice and maybe toured the back.

Ben if you see this ... Thank you for bringing BBQ back to town!

    The menu:

    The table sauce offerings:

    Big Ben's Sampler (for 2)

The sides along with the texas toast with plenty of butter

A quick shot of the interior decorations

Again 2 thumbs up ... I'll be going back to see them again!

I'm seein' lotsa stuff I would like on that menu! And that sampler would definitely feed me twice. Nachos and loaded bakers would be on my list! I might have to let you take me there sometime!

Thanks for the review Joe. I have driven by it several times but hadn't had a chance to try it. Looks good.

Mike and Donnie give me a holler sometime. If I'm not working we'll go on out to give it another try.
