Sorry I have not responded, don't have a computer at home. Thanks to all of you for the tips on the smoker and in reading as many threads as possible on pork butts, my first attempt turned out PERFECT. I did struggle the first hour with the temps, even after a dry run the day before. Turned out I just did not let the fire basket get to going good enough. I took the lid off and let it get real hot. Put the lid back on and baby sat till it got to 275. Sat outside with a Crown n' Coke for a couple hours and the temps held steady. After 5 hours the IT was spot on so I wrapped it good and tight and put it back on the smoker. Took it off when the IT was 195 wrapped in towels and put in the cooler. 2 hours later took it out, the bone slid out great, shredded it took it to the get together and people really liked it. I really appreciate your guidance thorughout the process of building the smoker and the cookin'. In two words.....I'M HOOKED!!!!!

Now there's a feel good time when you know people like what you brought. Outstanding Job!

No chickens were harmed in this statement. But it doesn't mean I didn't want to.
