    Default Turkey Fryer Burner Rec's

As a follow up to my How to Trash a Turkey Fryer, I thought I'd ask the knowledge base here.

My broken burner is going to the curb.

I'm in the market for a replacement.

This is turning out to be much more difficult than I thought.

Does anyone sell just a burner? I would love the same Bayou Classic burner that stoked something like 180,000 btu's. It was the highest rated burner I found at the time, had a 36 qt pot, but had the btu's for a 50 or 60gal crab boil pot.

But I cannot find just the burner, all of them are kits. Who the fark needs 2 pots?

What you find in your area? Looked around, and checked Northern Tool and Cabela's catalog.

    Nada.

    Anyone?

    Edit:

I just found it online (the Bayou Classic portal is a POS redirect) but the farker is $50 w/o shipping

Hell, the whole kit is like $59 or so

    Here is what I'm replacing:

I'll check, but other than Academy, about all I see out there are kits. Guess you're not supposed to fork up the burner.

I've seen loose burners in Academy, but they've been rare lately. They stock up on oil and stuff before Thanksgiving and sell it off through the year. I'll check and see, but $50 for a decent burner sounds about right.

Bill, you might as well spend a little more money for a better burner. Here is the link for the one you show above: http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...00439+10001001

However this burner is a much better one than the one they sell in the kits. The one that came in mine had the simple two piece burner that doesn't do well at a lower throttle setting. I bought the double version of this burner and it is great for brewing beer, making jambalaya, and frying turkieys

Here is the cheapest I have found for burners.
I was looking for one to convert my smoker into a gas unit... Have not got around to ordering yet.. But I will soon, the price went up a few bucks in the past few months.

Tx Sandman beat me to it. I think Academy is the only local place I've seen them. But, for 20 bucks or so online you should be good to go. Here is a link to turkey fryers online. It's got a couple for 12 or 13 bucks not including S&H. Let us know what you end up with... Heres the link http://www.turkey-fryers-online.com/...nt-burners.htm

Went by Academy for some other stuff and checked on fryers. They had just a burner, similar to the one that got forked up, for about $35 after tax. It was a "King Kooker" brand ,square base, didn't check out the BTUs, but I didn't see anything over about 65k, IIRC. I sure wouldn't expect much at that price.

Never knew how much I used the thing until I don't have it.

Cleaning the WSM last weekend was a beotch.

Use to torch the grates, then steel scrape them, torch the water pan and burn off the chit, etc.

Had to wash everything by hand.

    That suck'd

    But now I'm confused.

The squarw one with the big burner size is what I had. It reached like 180,000 btus'

But in those 2 links, the cheaper round burner description says 185,000, but the big square one says only 65,000btu's in the description.

I think they must have that backwards.

I think my current regulator valve and hose are salvagable, so I might need to swap with whatever I end up getting.

    Thanks again

OMG, if you are gonna do that, buy the outdoor gourmet 11 piece fryer kit from academy. I think I paid $60 for it a few months ago. Not only will you get the burner, you'll get the turkey pot, crab boil strainer pot, fish pot and basket, thermometer etc. You can probably connect the hose you have now directly to the burner and be set. Let us know what you come up with.
