I'm not familiar with how a WSM is set up, but if it has a charcoal basket, maybe you should try lighting it using the Minion Method. If you don't have a basket, maybe you need one. I'm starting to think the problem lies in the fuel and not in the Guru unit. You might want to explore your fuel source, what you're using for fuel and how you're using it. That's the only other thing I can think of.

I spoke with him about it on the phone. I believe he was starting too large of a fire. Hopefully his next experience will be awesome.

No chickens were harmed in this statement. But it doesn't mean I didn't want to.

Great...I just had a light steady rain that got everything wet. In my race to get the pork pulled and out to my party...I forgot to grab the viper fan off the smoker and the fan and plug in adapter got wet. Not "puddles" wet, but thoroughly rained on during a light steady rain.

Anybody know how these things take water? The controller was inside, but the fan was not. I'm sick...

Never got mine wet before, but I'd bet it's nothing a hair dryer won't fix.
