    Default South Carolina mustard sauce?

I'm sure there are recipes on here, and I appalogize for starting another thread about it.

But does anyone have a good mustard sauce recipe. There is a joint near us that has a 'Carolina mustard' sauce that I absolutely am in love with!!!

I'm no historian so I have no way of knowing if it's traditional. All I can do is describe it.

It was slightly thinner than let's say frenchs prepared mustard, little tangy, little sweet, some very tiny flakes of red. I am guessing its more common on pulled pork specifically, but I could eat it on about anything!

My guesses are it has basic mustard, some type of vinegar, some type of sweetener, some savory herbs (maybe garlic), hot pepper flakes and maybe a touch of horseradish.....not sure on the last one tho.

That's the best I can do to help you folks help me. I'd love a recipe for this sauce if anyone has one.

    Thanks gang!!!

You need someone from that area to respond here, not sure we have anyone.
I know what you are wanting, I've had it, just don't have a recipe. I'd like to though.

    Here's one of the best......

Roxy's South Carolina Mustard Vinegar Sauce

    1 cup apple cider vinegar
    1/2 cup Yellow mustard
    1/4 cup onion finely minced
    2 cloves garlic pureed
    1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce

Combine ingredients and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

For a smoother sauce, blend on high for a few minutes.

    BYBBQ,
Thanks for the recipe. I have several of the SC sauce recipes but this one sounds so good I have added it to my collection .

Very much appreciated! I'll likely be doing a pork shoulder for the Super Bowl, if I do it's a lock that I'll back making this sauce. Yummmmm

Thanks in general guys, this sight is excellent.
