    Default Pineapple vinegar

    Pineapple vinegar

    I have had this recipe laying around for a couple of years now and I finely did it.

    Tired of your Apple Cider, your Balsamic or your Rice vinegars ? Here is something original and
    it is super simple to make:

    In a quart jar or a little bigger, put
    the skin/pealing of one pineapple,
    cup white sugar
    and fill it with water.

    Cover the top with a cloth and use a rubber band to hold it in place.

    In three weeks you will have vinegar, the longer you wait the stronger it will be.

    I filtered it after 20 days and should have left it longer.
    With the holidays coming up, I had the choice of stopping it on the 17th or leaving it until the 2nd of January. I chose to stop it.

    The pineapple flavor does not completely disappear, but it is not overpowering.

    Pineapples may not be readily available in this season over there, but maybe you can find them in the summertime

    I would bet this recipe would work with pears or probably any fruit you could think of.

    Even after filtering through a coffee filter, the result is still cloudy :

    For sure this will never replace your favorite vinegar but, it gives a different little something to a Oriental salad in place of rice vinegar.
