Default Char-griller Akorn - bringing them temp down.

These things are notorious for running a little too hot and having to close down both top and bottom vents to 10% to keep them under control. Even then some youtube videos show it hard keeping it under 250. Gonna try the snake method and try to sit at 210-225 for a brisket. Wish me luck.

Sounds like you may have an air leak around the vents. Have you sealed the edges of the vents or made any of the usual mods to your unit ?

Haven't sealed it up tight yet but I need to. Right nowit is sitting at 225 with the bottom vent 90% closed and the top vent completely open. I'm liking how this is shaping up. Now lets just see how long I can maintain that with this charcoal amount and configuration.

I've eyed that thing a few times but wasnt sure so I kept moving. How did this turn out for you? Are there any mods that need to be done to it to keep it from running away on temp? Also how would you rate the efficiency of it?
