Corn cobbs for heat source?

I was told by an old timer the other day that dried up corn cobbs are good for smoking......thoughts?

Old Pioneers use to use them in the smoke house especially since they smell better than Buffalo chips when they are burning. I recall my granddad use to keep them in three places; there was a basket full in the Main House by the wood stove, the Smoke house and the Back house

Interesting, will be watching for the results. Just make sure not to use any from the Back House, may impair an "off" taste.

used to eat a lot of corn cob jelly when i was a youngster. it were damn good. but corn was different then, maybe sweet corn cob might work better.

Have not tried them, don't have a source. BUT, they are supposed to be good smoking material.
Keep us up on this if you try them.

I am a little late for this but I just found it.

Corncobs ?

I bought some corncobs last year to try them (they were really cheap).

I will not buy them again, they burn too fast and give little heat and almost no smoke.

I do not think that they have been a great success - they were not in the stores this year !
