    Default Mesquite Honey

    I have a buddy who has moved back to W. TX to set up a "bee farm".
    He had his bees pollinating mesquite trees all summer and has provided me with a load of "pure" honey right off of the comb (more solid than squeeze out of the bottle type). He says that the different blooms produces a different taste in the honey, and he wants me to come up with a marketable idea for localized honey/bbq product. Any suggestions?
    Next will "bee" (pun intentended) cotton pollentaled honey. I am thinking of a sweet bbq sauce but I might be a little short sighted on this whole project.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Locally grown food is the rage now for all food now so your boy sounds like he is onto something.

    How about 'Backyard Bees'? (sounds local) Maybe it could be the name for your Que sauce, too.

    Or 'Triple B' - for Backyard Busy Bees.

    I don't know dinkus about making my own sauces, but when I think honey, I think sweet (I know that is not necessarily the case)

    A good offset to sweet, is sometimes heat.

    So how about hot sauce, with a honey kick?

    I guess my second question (or is it my first) is:

    Are you looking for product ideas? Marketing ideas? or something else?

    Cool. Honey does take on different flavors and colors based on what the bees are exposed to during production.
