    Default Cast Iron Fetish

Next to my foil fetish, I am consumed by my cast iron desires... Just got back from a family outing to Springfield, MO, which is the home of the Bass Pro Shops. One of my purchases included a brand new 17" Lodge skillet. Man she is something to look at. I plan on scrubbing her down, and slathering her in shortning. After a nice romp in the sauna, we will break her in with some bacon and sausage, as nothing sounds better than a pretty girl paired with pork.

Anyway, here are a couple of pics of the new girl and her extended family.

    Nice collection!

You ever hit the Lodge Outlet up in Commerce?

My mom lives near there and every time I go to visit I come home with a new item from my favorite black pot dealer.

NIce pix Noah, but they make me wanna cry. The Okette was gifted all of her grandma's CI pots and pans, a collection similar to yours. They were so well broken that the cooking surface was as smooth as glass, but in the early 80's she sold them at a garage sale because they were to heavy and took up so much room in the cabinet.

    Ah, the folly of youth!

Did your skillet come pre-seasoned? I talked with the folks at Lodge about 2 years ago and at that time they told me that the plan was for all Lodge CI cookware to be pre-seasoned after Jan.'07.

FBJ, we usually will hit the factory outlet store in New Pittsburg, TN on our way to Chattanooga, but the BPS had a great deal, and it was love at first site! All the Lodge stuff is now pre-seasoned, but I still scrub down, and season the traditional way. I don't remove all of the preseasoning, but enough to make sure that the food doesn't taste like a factory, cardboard box, or factory outlet...

As for the chairs, no waffle butt yet, but these chairs have been identified as one of the many causes of the infamous "crotch waffle." \#/...

Gotta go, as I have a turtle head poking out of my balloon knot.
