    Default New Pit Cook

I fired " The Beast" this weekend for the first time and she did great. I am very pleased with the performance. I cooked a brisket, a butt, deer brats and a fattie. Here are some pics.

    Most excellent Pitmeister!

Tell us about how she ran. How often you had to add a log, how steady the temps were, etc..

She ran well. I call it the beast cause she will eat some wood. But that don't matter to me because I love tending the fire. I added 2 sticks of wood per hour. The temp held steady at 225-250* as long as I kept up the 2 sticks per hour. I am likely to do some mods later to improve the air flow control. Right now though, I am well pleased.

You might find that a Guru with a 25CFM fan would reduce wood usage and help hold tetmps steady. It sure did with my stickburner. 2 sticks an hour isn't that bad, but it does seem a little high for that size smoker.
