Default You were right, Weber Performer at Home Depot $199

I finally had to finish my Christmas shopping tonight. I headed to Ft Smith and actually picked up everything I needed at Academy. Lo and behold there is a Home Depot right next door. So, I decided I'd see if they had the Performer on sale for $199. SURE ENOUGH!!!!!!!!! The display had the original price as $329, on sale for $199. So, I took it to the counter and it rang up as $279 then $329 depending on what code they scanned on the box or what # they entered in the store computer. But, it never rang up as $199. So, they had to check it out. Some bozo came out and was talking to them saying it was probably a lower price to clear the old ones out and the ones in stock now, except the floor model, were $279. It was a nightmare and I remained calm the entire time. Finally they sold it to me for $199. I've got it home, in the garage and plan on putting it together after work tomorrow. Obviously I'll post pics once it's done!

Thanks Vermin for the heads up! If you hadn't mentioned it in the other thread, I never would have looked!

Thanks! I'm interested to learn all about cooking on it as far as heat zones etc. I know they can get really, really hot, I've already proved that. It's time to experiment with a coal free zone for indirect heat, a low coal zone for things that need to cook more slowly like hot links and also the hot, hot zone for steaks that I wanna sear on the outside. I'm also going to try it for smoking just because I can. This should be a wild but fun ride!

I set mine up the same way 99% of the time. I use one lit chimney full of charcoal and bank it on the opposite side of the charcoal bin. I have never used the charcoal holders tha come with the grill.

In sort of a downward slope? That's kind of my thinking. I can't wait to get this thing built and start cooking on it. Duck hunting very well may get in the way of it Friday and Saturday. Hopefully I'll get it built and lit tomorrow night. What kind of propane bottles does it take? I'm guessing the ones you use for something like a camping lantern or a soldering torch?

What a deal! I think you'll like it real well.

It takes the standard 1# Coleman bottles or equivalent.
