At first, I thought I should get one for the drum, but then I decided I'll just use my DIGI Qs.

It is an inexpensive alternative though.

Dear Santa ... you ain't been on his delivery lists since 3rd grade Tom

Really though - it's $130 for a portable control unit (27 hrs at 40% ?? I'm not sure if that is a typical percentage) without having to lug around a booster box or have an electric outlet handy. Cool tool.

I still have a 3rd grade mind. Does that count?

Joe, the fan running 40% of the time is extremely high demand. If oyu are running 250 on a Backwoods, 10-15% is abotu what you would be running.

That's kind of what I was saying Tim. I guess it averages out with the ramp up and the lower maintaining speeds. I think I would be inclinded to let the pit get close to cruise temp before hooking up the battery unit - but it should run the whole cook no matter what you are cooking ... even a huge clod.
