    You won't know the temp with a Weber...unless you drill a hole in the dome and mount a thermo...Oh wait, I think the Performer comes with a thermo.

    Weber is a good choice for the $, but it certainly has its limitations. The biggest drawback to them to me is the fact that you can't regulate the distance between the fire and the cooking grate. W/o that, you give up a lot of versatility.

    Makes sense Tim. My Charbroil is still in working order but I simply won't spend the money to replace the flavorizer bars and grates when I can buy a whole new grill with the same money. Thankfully I've got a couple of smokers for the smoking side of things. If all I have to do is mount a thermo in the lid then I'm on the right track! I happen to have a source for some really good thermo's!

    I don't think you would want to use a Tel Tru on the lid of the weber, I think it would be too heavy and you would tend to drop the lid on it. Seriously, if you are thinking Weber, check out the performer.
