I just wanted to see what I could learn about OK Joes. Seems like I'll frequent a resturant because of one or two dishes or side dishes that I really like, it also helps if I like the waitresses or they are real cute. And I try to have reasonable expectations about what they serve. Nobody serves BBQ better than mine...atleast to me. On the other hand, I'm certain that a comp team wouldn't be as wild about my brisket as I am. As long as its tasty and tender with good sauce, sides and setting, I'll probably go back, especially with good company, and when I don't have the inclination or time to cook for 12 hours.

Remember too MIke, competition food is not "Eating Food". Good comp Q is too rich to make a meal of.

While there are indeed two or three Q joints in the Tulsa area that produce edible Q, I found OK JOe's in KC to be pretty good and I will be glad to have them this close to home if they do as well here as they do there.
I'm just sayin' I took them there AT THEIR REQUEST because they had heard how great it was. Then I had to listen to the comments the rest of the day. They were not impressed. It was funny.

And I find Ok Joe's que to be average mass produced que. Nothing special. It's not bad. But nothing special.
I'd rather eat at Oden's in Belton, MO. Or Quick's in KC. Or Mike's Peculiar Smoke Barbecue near Peculiar, MO.

Yeah that Peculiar Smoke ain't bad stuff. Hope I'm available for the TQJ lunch run when it opens. It'll be good to see a few of the folks I ain't seen in a while or met.

    Default May be getting closer

I drove by the new OK Joes location this a.m. Besides the big smoker on a trailer sitting out behind the place, suddenly there is lots of activity. Several cars and trucks; people moving in and out; it looks like lots of work going on. They may be finally getting it ready to open.

I was over there last week and there were some folks working inside.

I drove around back to try and see if the smoker was a Hickory or a pride, but couldn't tell w/o getting out of the truck.

Always anxious to try a new Q joint.
