This question may have been answered before, but I didn't see it. Picking up a new Party the end of the month and wondering if anyone has tried using wood for fuel? Or is Blue Bag/ Lump the ticket?

You'll need charcoal for fuel. Wood for flavor. You can't burn a flame in a Backwoods so that rules out burning wood for fuel.

As to the type of charcoal, that would be up to your tastes.

Personally, I wouldn't put Kingsford blue bag within 10 feet of my Backwoods. For that matter, I wouldn't use it for anything more than a dutch oven or a Caja China.

There's a whole big difference in the way they cook though.

I guess the end of the month I get to learn a new curve.

You will not be sorry.

When it comes to BBQ, I'm never sorry. Just hungry.
