I'd say if it is actually from an eastern shore - it's probably a great deal South of you. :msn-wink:

I would say it is most likely just a name somebody from the north put on it. :roflmaoha0:

Try it and see if you like it.

I was thinking Virginia but know they do not use any white sauces there. (they go with Carolina style)

Just as an idea, I'd suggest you guys try this with a pulled pork sandwich. I don't recall the exact recipe since Linda whipped it up, but I tried it, bite by bite, and it was fantastic. In other words, I didn't spread it onto the whole sammich. It was used as a dipping sauce.

I'll see if I can get Linda to post her recipe and see how close it is to this one. It (or this one) really is worth trying. Shoot, I'll try 'em all, if I have time!

Him who?

You?

White BBQ sauce is a big thing for pulled pork in the Carolinas, I forget which one. that's prolly where the Eastern shore comes from. I've never tried it but hopefully PC will whip some up next time we get together.

Eastern North Carolina BBQ Sauce

Yields: 32 servings

"I have tried a lot of recipes of Eastern North Carolina BBQ Sauce. This is the closest to what you will find in any of the BBQ Restaurants here in North Carolina. It is on the hot side, so you may wish to adjust the cayenne pepper and Tabasco™ sauce for milder flavor."
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup cider vinegar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
(e.g. Tabasco™), or to taste
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black
pepper

DIRECTIONS:
1.
Combine the white vinegar, cider vinegar, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, hot pepper sauce, salt and pepper in a jar or bottle with a tight-fitting lid. Refrigerate for 1 to 2 days before using so that the flavors will blend. Shake occasionally, and store for up to 2 months in the refrigerator.

While that type of sauce is the predominant sauce, the white sauce, as I understand it is almost totally a Carolina thing.

They use white sauce (mayo based) in North Alabama, but that is the only place I have seen it.

I only know what I've seen on the tube in that regard. Personally, I'v really never been motivated to try it based on what i've seen, but then, I shouldn;t make judgments based on what I see.
