My Mother wants me to hot smoke some salmon for her tonight. My wife and I don't care for salmon so obviously I've never done it. Any advice on how to smoke it and not dry it out?

Well..I suppose I'm late on this...

Salmon is fairly easy to hot smoke. Key- when it flakes from gentle pressure, it's done. It's an oily fish...GOOD oil, mind you. After a half hour at hot smoke temps, push on it and look for it to seperate, or "flake"

About 45 minutes at 250-275. Skin on, skin down. I look for the juices to come to the top and turn opaque.

I like heavy Seafood splash and honey before cooking and basted a couple time during th cook.

Thanks folks! I smoked it at 240 for 45 mins and it came out perfect. Just S&P and a light brushing of Soy Vey Very Teri at the end. My wife and I had Ahi steaks with the same glaze.
