Our first stop on our recent visit to New England, recommended by the lady at the front desk of the hotel, Mount Vernon an the Wharf.

From the outside, the place is very unassuming, but gives no clue as to what is inside.

While there was a certain amount of elegance in the atmosphere and the semi tuxedoed wait staff, most all diners were in casual attire. The full glass waterside view of the wharf was very nice as well.

For surprise starters, up showed a pair of incredible popovers, and a bowl of butter to dress them up with.

As a meal, we ordered a shellfish sampler that consisted of a few oysters Rockefeller, clams casino, and bacon wrapped, grilled sea scallops. for some reason the pic would not upload, and that is a shame because the looked and ate fantastic.

That, and a pair of stuffed baked lobstah

Every phase of the meal was top notch, from the service, to the atmosphere, to the food. We liked it so much that we returned the night that we got back to the Boston area.

If you are in the area, I highly recommend this fine eatery.

$21 for the pair. The size seemed to be about the same most places your went, 1 1/4# each.

At the lobster pounds, you could get bigger ones tough.

Don't confuse the stuff they serve at Red Lobster with real seafood though.
