My next door neighbor spotted these while out on his evening walk.

I am so fortunate to have a neighbor that is observant, likes to go for walks and hates mushrooms.

I think I might fry them up with some catfish tonight.

How do you do your fried morels? Do you wet batter them, egg wash and crackers or bread crumbs, dry dredge or what. I'm up for something new tonight.

These came from the same spot that yielded about 5 gallons last year. these are all that were up so far, and I looked again tonight.

Hopefully we will get another good flourish before they get done.

I can't believe how early yours come up. We have to wait about another month....maybe a little less, depending on the moisture and heat.

It has been probably 35 years since I last had fresh morels fried and I forgot how the wife and I did them but they were fantastic. I scouted them out on south eastern Ohio (oilfield near Logan or Jucntion City) in about 1972-74. I think just flowered them and fried in butter???? Congratulations on your find and your GREAT neighbor. :thumbs up:

They were up a littel earlier last year. Hopefully, like I said, this won;t bee all for the year.

Brother Ultramag soaks his morels overnight then pours the water they soaked in on the same area each time. Guess what? Morels there next year! It works!
I know. The spot where he poured it for a good while is along the fence north of his old place, that Jane and I now own. :thumbs up:

Who is brother Ultramag? Is he the prodigal brother?

Who is brother Ultramag? Is he the prodigal brother?

No, just elects to lurk on The Joint as he smokes his seegar. He keeps an eye on us.

My Mom frys them in butter then adds some flour to thicken into a mushroom gravey with them. Very good that way, or poured on a steak
