Just woundering if most people
make their own BBQ sauce for comp

Rubs too

Can you use store bought or is that against the rules

I would say about 50/50 for people who make their own. Most people take a off the shelf sauce and adjust it to what they think will make it better, i.e. morre sugar. I would say the same for rubs. We make our own rub for pork, brisket and ribs and use Plowboys on chicken. Our sauce is home made with a touch of H.C. for familiarity, because HC rules around here.

My best advise is intense seasoning, remember, the judge is only going to take one maybe two bites of your stuff.

I'll second that, but maybe even go higher than the 50 percentage using a rub/sauce that they bought, most are doctored up a bit, but not all.

In any case, it is not against the rules.....atleast for any of the comps I have been in.

Blues Hog with a little Head Country does it for me! Two of the best combined.

Most of what I see is the same thing, but the other way around.

I really like their rubs and chili seasoning. I have only tried their peach bbq sauce and really like that as well.
