View Full Version : Great day for Grilling

Today was a beautiful day to do some grilling. I went down to the local hardware store and bought a little Weber grill. Ran to the local meat locker to buy some brats with pineapple and some 1 1/2" Iowa chops, and some sirloin steaks.

I did'nt get a chance to snap some pictures of the finished chops, but you get the idea.

Those pictures look great! I had a great day too. I spent the day fishing with SmokieOkey. I don't know why he takes me to fishin' holes what don't have fish. :smack: :roflmaoha0:

The little smokey was a nice addition. I am used to working with bigger Pits and bigger cook outs, but it will work for now. I saw a Weber Smoky Mountain,but they wanted $260.00 for it.The Baby Weber is still burning hot after 5 hrs. not bad for a spur of the moment idea. I wondering what to cook tomorrow. Any Suggestions?

I've got the Smokey Joe Silver, but I've not been able to fire out of it that I think I should get. Seems like you are getting a nice burn though.

Blazer, you might check the vents. Older Joes have the vents on the sides up near the rim. The newer ones have a vent in the bottom of the bowl. The older Joes have a real hard time keeping the fire burning because of poor air flow.

Mine has the vent in the lid and the vent in the bottom of the bowl. I've had the bottom vent open full each time that I have used it.

I have a platinum model as well with the side vents, but I will be modifying it to have bottom vents as soon as I get the chance. I already have the parts.

I opened the top and bottom vents all the way, and adjusted about half way before I put the meat on. It gave me a chance to either open or close the vents as needed. At one time I did have to lift the lid over about 1/2" to let a little more air in, and after the first round of steaks and brats I took the grill off and stoked the coals to take off any ash then started my second round.
