Seems to me the CG website says their units w/SFBs are stickburners. Just for chits & grins I thought I would give it a try sometime soon. Since I have no experience other than charcoal or gas, would anyone care to throw some pointers and/or sage advice out there?

Thanks!

I get a base of lump going and throw the splits on....don't go any longer than 14"
Just don't put too many on at once, especially with a duo, there's not much area to heat.
Take some pix and let us know.

The trick is to get a good bed of coals first (I always used lump charcoal for that) and feed the splits a little at a time. As you know, you don't want the new fuel to outrun what can be "combusted" efficiently. If you get smudging out of the stack you'll know that you've got too much raw wood on there.

I use a chimney of lump and toss on a split about the size of my wrist about every 45 min mine will run 230-240 with the intake about 1/4 open.
