We recently got a volcano stove to use with our DO. The literature claims you can use less fuel but give no rule of thumb to help you know how much less. Does anyone know of one or should I just keep experimenting?

Never heard of them until now. They look cool.

Can you show us some pix of yours?

Found this. I do not have a Volcano Stove.

Normally 12-13 briquettes will supply enough heat for Dutch oven cooking and will give you 1 to 2 hours of cooking time.

Sherm the link that bud lite gave is the best one I've seen. I don't have one myself, but have seen them, and they do use less charcoal by far. Just read the link and it gives some good tips. Oh! by the way I just use a charcoal chimmey to start my charcoal. I haven't used charcoal lighter in a long long time.
