I spent a couple hunderd bucks a couple years back having new cast iron grates made for my Charbroil grill. They had been out of production so long that there were no more available.

I was delighted when I saw what appeared to be a good heavy duty adjustable CI grate at Lowe's earlier this summer. After I finally got around to double checking the measurements, I discerned that they would be perfect for the Charbroil, so I bought a couple and gave them a try this weekend at out competition.

They worked great. They are a bit heavier than most grates I've seen, and while at first I thought they were just bare CI, I came to find that they actually have a porous porcelain coating on them.

I was so impressed with them that I went to Lowe's yesterday and bought four more just for back up.

Thought I'd share this info because I figure that I'm not the only one that has been frustrated in their search for cast iron replacement grates, Oh yeah, they are $25 per grate.

Here is a link (http://www.charbroil.com/consumer/product_detail_e.aspx?ProductID=2245&CategoryID=27) if you want to know more about them.

I would love to have him make a grill for my UDS but shipping, duty and brokers fees makes it too expensive. I'll have to figure out another way

You're going to have to be REALLY bad to get more than the standard stocking full of coal. Got any ideas? :roflmaoha0:
