With a est ship date of the 29th. I am ready for it to be here. The bad part is I will be in meetings all that week and come back the evening of the 30th. Hopefully my guys will unload it from the truck and keep her safe. I got a package today for her. I just got my guru II by ups today. I hooked it up and messed with it before I had to go pick up glass for the new shower. Yeah I get a new smoker and she gets a new bathroom. After the bath stuff, I should have gotten a more expensive smoker. After all I did sell my traeger and that paid for some of the new smoker.

Sounds like a good "Give and Take" relationship. Glad to hear your smoker is coming soon. Can't wait to see some smoldering meat on it.

This is almost like the night before Christmas. I am taking my guru to work with me in anticipation that I will have a driver waiting for me to get there. Needless to say I am going to work early tomorrow.

It will kind of suck if the guy is on schedule and it shows up on Thursday morning. Tim said many times and the lady from Backwoods told me that Tulsa is usually one of the first stops so it COULD get here early. Either way i'm taking my stuff with me. Better to be prepared than not.

It showed about 1 pm today. Sweet!!!!!!!!!!!! Its cooking right now seasoning up. We start cooking for real tomorrow. I bought all the groceries for the job. grand total for all the fixings. Plates, rub, meat, drinks, ect. $636 and we got about 125 lbs of meat and brats. We prepped the meat this afternoon and its marinating in the work fridges. Then we took off to my biz partners house with the smoker set on one of those cargo carriers. It fits perfectly in it and straps up nice. We lit the smoker and put all our beef and pork cuttings in. I hooked the guru up and that is cool the temp adjustments are way more accurate than my old traeger. Very impressed so far. I left it at my partners house since we will be cooking there tomorrow and its way heavy than the 190 lbs that they estimate.

On the weight, it either ways more than everything that I read or its just picking it up with those little handles. The shipping bill said it weight 425 lbs crate, pallet and smoker. My mechanic took the pallet apart and we decided that the pallet and crate weight no where close to 225 lbs. I would guess that the extended party weighs around 300 - 325 lbs. The weight is the main reason I bought the cargo carrier. There was no way that we were going to pick it up and put it in the truck bed. Trailering it will be easy but I hate pulling trailers. Oh well If the weight is the only disappointment I will be doing awesome

yeah thanks for the help and the 2 jobs we did came out flawless and produced the best brisket that I or anyone that ate it has ever had. The water pan is a huge asset on this cooker.

BTW I will need to re learn how to cook on it when the rain eventually stops. I cooked everyday from date of arrival (weds seasoning) to sunday. All days in the rain.

wonderful smoker and had just paid for itself last night. I might be looking to add another . Probably either a competitor or another ext party.

Glad you like it, but think Piglet or Piglet Plus. Either one is really a better bang for the buck, and the lift up door is really nice as well.

I'm ready to move up to a Piglet plus which means my Piglet is for sale.

Partyshack BBQ
05-20-2009, 08:49 PM
yeah well I am thinking vertical not horizontal. I want multiples the piglet width will throw my plans off. I would love to go piglet otherwise. The brisket that came off for the catering job last night was WAY better then my 15th place brisket from bixby. I think i'm figuring out the times for rack swaps.

SmokyOkie
05-21-2009, 10:09 AM
You get both with the piglet plus. think double ext Party. You can get as many racks as you want too.

Partyshack BBQ
05-21-2009, 09:42 PM
I agree but the main reason we won't multiples is that Ironsides is to be retired. We cook butts at 300 and brisket at 250 ish

I might look at the fec again but i'm am really loving the smoke that is coming off the bw's. I think I narrowed down to the comp or ext party with the party in the lead.

I really like mine, but if I were doing high volume catering, I would really enjoy the extra space. Sides, now that you're in business, it's a tax write off and that's like getting a 35% discount. Uncle Sam discounts are the best kind.
