I'm thinking about building a smokehouse. I'm not sure how big, what material to build it from and how to fire and exhaust it. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Hi Rube. Can you tell us what it is that you are planning on smoking? How large of a quantity will there be at one time? It will help decide how big and what materials to use.

Where ya been Jeannie? It's even better to see you. Which message was it that you missed?

BTW, I was just looking at your list of cookers and I decided that you need to have a Backwoods.:msn-wink::roflmaoha0:

How do you like your EZque?

lol Tim, Bet you don't even remember asking me this. lol Sorry!!
I like the ezque. The main thing I like is it's battery operated for camping...but then I don't really want to sit and listen to it running when I'm out camping in the middle of nowhere.
Guess it's a love/hate relationship. :D

I built a smokehouse about 15yrs ago. Did it out in southern Colorado. I ran acrossed an old steel bank vault out there. I put a pot bellied stove in it, welded in some bed rails for meat hanging racks, cut 2 baffled exhaust pipe holes (one on each side), and built a fire in it. Worked great, still is as far as I know ? I'll see it this fall when I go Elk hunting.

I built the Big Baby Double Barreled Cooker. works great! for me the smoker I would consider building had to be able to cold smoke as well as hot smoke. The Big Baby does it all. Email me and I will send you the plans.
