The first fire is always exciting. I can imagine the smell, but I bet it was BAD!

Well on your way to a fine smoker. Once you get that stack in it will react differently. Thanks for sharing and can't wait to see it ready for it's first cook.

I like the design, looks like a DPP. You going w/2 stacks?

Hurry up and get some food in there.:thumbs up:

No one stack in the middle. Its going to be kinda be like a double reverse flow. going to put a pan over the middle and leave the ends open.

Nice progress! Looks like quite a fire you had there.

Interesting thought on the design being double reverse. If it works well you ought to patent it.

What are you going to do to prevent a hot spot on the plate where the fire comes into the oven?

One step ahead of you Im going to put 1/2 inch deflector plate across the Tubes coming into the pit :)

You will most likely need some sort of heat sink in addition to the 1/2" plate. I mean, it the heat coming in is 750. it is only a short matter of time until the steel is pretty close to that same temp.

A stainless steam table pan full of water works very well for that purpose if you leave yourself enough room for it.
