Cleaning out the fridge, thought I'd experiment with some leftover chicken Rice-a-Roni, and Zatarains Red Beans and Rice.

Doesnt look too appealing, but it was damn good.

In fact, I wouldn't hesitate to make both and then mix together on purpose, not as a leftover but on the first night.

If you want great Red Beans in a hurry, you would prolly love Blue Runner (http://www.bluerunnerfoods.com/) cream style red bans. They are the real deal, just thin them out with a little hot water , heat and eat, and I'm sure you could eat them with rice a roni!:roflmaoha0:

Let me say that I have never meet a :wings: bean :wings:I did not like but I have never heard of Blue Runner:shrug:. I lived in Colfax, LA off and on for a year and fell in L O V E with the food. Remember whether you mix it on the plate/bowl or where ever it all is going to get mixed. :sign0092: for sharing.

Here's their website (http://www.bluerunnerfoods.com/products.html). If you contact them, they may be able to put you in contact with a local retailer.

If you want to order some online, then try here (http://www.cajunsupermarket.com/product_info.php?products_id=30)

You might also try the walmart locator (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10320838)

Thanks for the links, no Walmarts carry that brand within 100 miles of my location.

Thanks again,

Mike

I wished I had about these when I was in Kansas at the American Royal, I would have tracked them down.

Just order a can or two from the Cajun grocery and if you like them, order a case and save the freight.

My displaced Coona$$ friends say they are the only acceptable substitute for the real thing.

My case of Blue Runner red beans just arrived. :thumbs up:
Might try them with some rice tonite.

Also got a 7# chicken that might get spatchcocked and egged this afternoon.

Depends, too much crap going one here this week again.

Thanks Smokin Okie for the tip on the beans.

At your service sir!

Now what is this about "egging" a chicken?

Last 2 chickens I did turned out excellent on the egg.

Spactchcock the 6# bird, skin side up at 400 degrees dome temp, direct heat.

Took about an our and 15 minutes, skin was perfectly done.

Blue Runner beans, ordered some and added some to chili the other day.

Gotta say they will be my go to beans for mixing with rice.

Man those things are good.

Thanks for the heads up folks!
