I stopped in at the local small town grocery and browsed the meat counter after hunting Saturday and I came across these.

They looked a bit suspicious, and the price looked right, so I bought them.

When I got them home and opened them up my suspicions were confirmed. They were actually these

I put some of this on them.

and I'll cook them direct/ indirect with light cherry smoke, then glaze them with Chinese BBQ sauce. I'll try to remember to get some more shots when done or in between.

What exactly is the Russian sauce? I got the same deal this summer at Sam's club, where they mislabled 3.49/lb backribs as 1.49/lb spareribs. The broad at checkout even commented on it, said "if thats what the tag says, that must be the price. Did they have anymore?"

Do any of you guys have a scanner accuracy policy at your grocery stores...in canada if the product is under $10 and it scans wrong you get it for free and if it's over $10 you get $10 off the price....just wondering. Great deal on the ribs :thumbs up:

The Russian stuff was rub, not sauce. or whatever the Ruskies call it. Had all the ingredients of a good pork rub plus some marjoram.

You think that's a deal, you should check out the free Easy Up that Sam's furnnished for the last comp. We still have it.

We have a retail law that says that whatever the posted price is, whether accurate or not, the retailer has to sell it for that price. So if a CG has an incorrect price of $25 posted on it or on the display, they have to sell it at that price.

I don't know about scanners, but I did learn a long time ago to watch scanners for pricing accuracy.

This isn't the first time I've found this same error at this store. Not only are they mis marked, but they are also always the best, meatiest BBs you can find. I think the meat cutter is either helping himself out, or helping a friend out.

I've also found chuck eyes for about the same price marked as stew meat.

Is that a mustard sauce Tim? The close up of the tongs looks like it has mustard mixed in with it.

Ketchup
Hoisin sauce
Honey
Fresh grated ginger
Lotsa fresh garlic
and yes, even a goodly dose of MAE PLOY sauce

Try it once and you'll eat it again, guaranteed.

Looks darn fine my friend:thumbs up::drooling:. If they tasted anything like they look your in business.

Question, grilling the bbacks?? Does that go for spares also?? Does that go for comps also?? How is the smoke on the grill vs. smoker differ? Taste??

They look terrific and am interested in the cherry sauce:drooling:

Well I learn summin new everyday, KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED FOR THOSE PRICES. I would have never thought about the meat man screwing up in OUR FAVOR!!:wow:

Grilling w/ smoke. Just grill indirect for about 1 1/2 hours until you get some pull back then start saucing until the sauce builds up. Last but not least, place over direct heat and caramelize the sauce a bit, brushing lightly if needed to keep the shine on 'em.

The sauce wasn't cherry, the wood was. I used one chink about 3"x3".

If you want a good cherry sauce, Bubba and I both know where you can get one.

I have a hunch that those were prepared specially for the meat man himself or one of his friends being as they were about the best BBs I've seen around here and only the best end.
