I'm checkin' in Monday morning for hip replacement surgery. Taking about 6 weeks off work. Osteoarthritis diagnosed back about 1980 has finally made me miserable enough to take the plunge.

I'll have plenty of time to keep up with the forum, so I'll keep y'all posted on how it goes. Y'all wish me luck!

Monday will be 14 weeks since my surgery. I was sorry I had the surgery the first few weeks. I didn't think it was supposed to hurt more after the surgery. Things are fine now. Pain is gone and back to"normal", relatively. Keep the faith. I'll say a prayer or two for you and your surgical staff.

I need a road trip but there must be a better way than keeping someone locked up. I do have a whole rack of baby backs in the freezer just waiting on their fate.:msn-wink:

Thank you sir. Yeah, the last thing I want to do is lay around like a helpless pu$$y. I'm trying to do as much as I can for my self without hurting myself. Like yesterday I managed my first shower by myself. Mrs. Shoots only had to change my bandage. And I'm doing my PT exercise without help.

I'm getting around with a walker which requires both hands so it's kinda tough to carry things like food and drink. So my lady has to serve it to me.

I just gotta remind myself not to overdo it.

Well it's been 3 months off. Much longer than I anticipated. The Doc said my left leg was shorter than my right and fixed that in surgery. That complicated things a bit. With the new length of my femur bone, my muscles were suddenly too short. What can you do for that? S-T-R-E-T-C-H! Long painful process but it's helped a lot with the tightness that causes so much pain.

The other complication was that with my new "normal" status on the left side, I wasn't feeling normal. My body had to get used to it. I felt like something was out of alignment. Hard to walk easily, smoothly. Made for extra pain. But I persevered, and things are much better now. Not perfect, but I've been off my cane for 7 days now. Saw the Doc on Fri. and got released. So tomorrow I go back to work!:cheer::cheer::cheer:
