My old Uniflame is about burnt out. What would a good replacement for it?

I don't like the round models, I am leaning toward a Chargrille right now.

:whathesaid: or maybe a Backwoods grill. I think they make 3 different models. PM SmokyOkie, he'll be able to tell you for sure.

I know you said you didn't care for a round grill, but the best and most versatile in that price range would be a Weber 22.5" One Touch Gold. Smoke on it or grill direct or indirect.

JMHO=YMMV

Weber 22 OTG 149.00 I have a CG Outlaw and a Weber 22 OTS. I 'll give up the Outlaw & fight ya for the Weber! Reasoning> I can grill, Cold Smoke, Do Long smokes. All that is required is a change in the way I set up the fire. The Outlaw Requires Some Mods to preform well as a Smoker and leaks like a Screen door. The Weber works out of the box and they are Built like a Submarine ( Air tight). I have been using the same Weber since 1985 about 3 times a week all year long all I do is feed it Lump and brush off the grate and yes it is the same SS grate that came with it.

The smoking pro with side fire box was my first cooker. I still have it and use it weekly. I only use it at a grill now, but it was my only cooker for several years. I have never made any mods to it. It works just fine out of the box. Using logs in the fire box can be a challenge at first, but you will learn now to control it. Once you do, you can use any smoker with out difficulty. Using charcoal in the side box is much easier. I'm with you on the round grills. Just don't like them.

All true Dawg, but the CG does one very important thing that the WeEber doesn't, you can change the distance between the fire and the grate. Once you get used to cooking on a grill with this feature, it is hard to change.

Mine has never seen fire in the Smoke box so I wouldn't know about that. It all comes down to fire management anyway.

I wouldn't need the firebox anyway, I want it just for grilling.

I have this.It goes on sale occasionally for $149.00
I use my Weber more and have had it since I was skinny and had hair.:roflmaoha0:
But I use the Master Forge for larger cooks and it is nice to adjust the height of your charcoal.You can read the reviews.
