I am working and Queing in Susquahanna County PA. I brought several bags of GFS (Royal Oak Lump) with me. Any one know where I can get some over here.

Unless you know please do not waste my time by speculating.

I have been to everywhere in Binghamton: Sams, Lowes, Walmart, Home Depot, Weis, Kmart, Sears, Maines Source, Wegmans.... Welshes Restraunt Depot.

OK long story short version. I could not find a number for Royal Oak. I downloaded the MSDS sheet from GFS and called the phone number listed. It turned out to be the operator for Royal Oak and she put me through to sales. The sales department was helpful but the chain stores in the Binghamton area did not stock the 20 lb bags. They did put me in touch with the RO district sales manager that put me in contact with Milazzio Industries. I called them and they do sell to the public. Last Friday I drove down and picked up 6 bags for a test. When I got there I was greeted by a friendly staff that told me the story of how thier manufacturing facility had been under 16 feet of water. They were no longer making thier own lump charcoal, but they were selling Royal Oak. I had expected that the charcoal would be in be in thier brand bags, but it was in the customary Red and Yellow RO bags. I have used 4 of the bags and it burns just like the GFS(RO) that I brought from Michigan.

I will be purchasing another batch from them next week. I have cooked every week-end since I have gotten here. My average week-end usage is 3 or 4 bags.

Pricing... The bags actually contain 16.7 lbs of charcoal and not 20. I know the volume is less, as the size of my hopper has not changed...

They gave me a very attractive price for a purchase of 6 bags. Thier price was about 20% less than I paid in Michigan, which seems right as they do not need to truck it as far.

It is a quality product for a resonable price.

Call them and get a price quote for yourself.

I was in that neighborhood yesterday. Picked up 5 of the 17lb+ bags for $11.25 per. Not a bad deal. 'specially since the only other lump around here is Cowboy. The only other place I found to get RO lump was when I visited a buddy in Harrisburg. That's about 150 miles. Jerry, thanks for tracking this source and sharing!

For those of us in NE Oklahoma, you can find Ozark Oak, 10 lbs bags at Warehouse Market for $4.99. Pretty good quality. I hear that it's the same stuff that Hasty Bake private labels but I don't have proof of that although contents of both appear the same. not a bad deal and esy to obtain. I understand Ozark is out of Yellville, AR, north central Arkansas

You are correct jb. Hasty bake is Ozark oak. You can go to the plant in yellville but you have to buy a full pallet for about the same price per bag as from warehouse market. add the gas and you pay double. Now if you just happen to be in eureka springs, its just down the road
