Spicy Garlic Brussel Sprouts

Come on now, brussel sprouts have been made fun of for too long. Maybe you just need a better way of cooking them? Hey, here's an idea, try this!

1/2 pound Brussels sprouts
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon olive oil

Trim sprouts to remove ugly outer leaves - if the sprouts are large, cut in quarters - if small cut in half
Steam over boiling water until tender - about 10 minutes, then drain
Heat olive oil and garlic in small pan until fragrant, but do not burn
Add sprouts & pepper flakes and stir until they begin to brown, maybe 2 minutes
Add balsamic, brown sugar - stir for a minute, remove and serve

Hey, I love steamed, fresh brussel sprouts with a little salted butter on them, but...

I will have to try your recipe, can not be bad, only good stuff in it.:eating:

We like to steam them and then put them cut side down in butter and sugar on warm to let them soak up the sweet and butter but not cook any further.

Not too much different 'cept for the chili and garlic.
Gonna have to try this.

FWIW, the Okette and I both used to hate the sprouts and now they are one of our favorites.
